Cape Town, June 19, 2024 – Police have arrested a 38-year-old suspect in connection with the shocking double murder caught on a bakery delivery truck’s dashcam in Delft, Cape Town, last month.
According to police spokesperson Lt-Col Malcolm Pojie, the suspect was tracked down by the investigative team on Sunday at the Delft Day Hospital, where he was being treated after a confrontation with community members who accused him of robbery.

“The investigating team visited the hospital, recognised the suspect, and placed him under arrest. He provided a false name and details to the hospital administrators,” Pojie stated.
The suspect is expected to appear in court on Wednesday to face charges of murder, attempted murder, and aggravated robbery.
This arrest follows an intensive investigation, during which the suspect was identified early on but managed to evade capture until this recent breakthrough.

The tragic incident took place on May 16 on Symphony Way in Delft, where the suspect and his accomplices robbed a bread delivery truck.
The two staff members in the vehicle were fatally wounded during the robbery.
The police are still on the lookout for the accomplices involved in this crime. The arrest of the primary suspect is a major step forward in seeking justice for the victims and their families.
