In a shocking incident that has gripped the Wedza community, five women have been convicted for the brutal assault of a fellow villager, which was recorded and shared on social media.
Among the five, four were minors under the age of 18, while the fifth, Vimbai Mike, is 19 years old.
The crimes occurred on July 4th in Wedza and included aggravated indecent assault, cyberbullying, unlawful detention, and physical assault.
Vimbai Mike, alongside a 17-year-old mother of two, received a five-year prison sentence for aggravated indecent assault.
Additionally, both were sentenced to one year for cyberbullying, one year for unlawful detention, and another year for assault.
However, these additional sentences will run concurrently with their five-year term.
The other three minors involved in the incident were not sentenced to prison but received stern warnings.
They have been placed on a five-year probation, during which they must avoid committing any similar offenses.
The group was accused of stripping, beating, and leaving their victim unconscious for unknown reasons.
The incident was filmed and later posted online, where it quickly went viral, leading to widespread outrage and their subsequent arrest.
