The incident took place on the 30th of August 2024 in the Dandadale area of Chinhoyi.
According to allegations, Nkonde approached Nokuthula Mazivisa, who was walking to her garden, and requested to engage in sexual intercourse, offering to pay USD 5.00 for her services.

Mazivisa refused, which enraged the accused. Nkonde reportedly grabbed her by the neck, dragged her into nearby bushes, and raped her once.
Following the assault, the accused took a bottle of pesticide from Mazivisa’s handbag and forced the contents down her throat.
Nkonde then fled into the surrounding bushes. However, nearby passersby heard the victim’s groans and came to investigate.
Mazivisa identified Nkonde as the assailant, narrating the details of her attack before succumbing to her injuries. She was rushed to the hospital but tragically died upon admission.
Nkonde was remanded in custody, with his next court appearance scheduled for the 18th of September 2024.
