Durban, South Africa – June 18, 2024 – In a significant operation aimed at enhancing public safety and law enforcement, the Durban Metro Police Service, in conjunction with the South African Police Service, Home Affairs Department, RTI, CROSS BORDER POLICING, and Road Safety teams, have arrested 16 illegal immigrants on Point Road.
This extensive operation, which began yesterday, is set to continue for 14 days and has already seen the apprehension of several Zimbabwean nationals.

Mariannhill Toll Plaza
- Vehicle Check Points (VCP): Rigorous checks were conducted to ensure compliance with road safety regulations.
- Enforcement of PTU/Warrants: The Tracing team was deployed to identify and address various violations.

- Removal of Homeless Individuals: Six homeless individuals were removed from hazardous locations, connecting them with social services for further assistance.

- Hawkers Enforcement: Street vendors were checked for compliance with Bylaws, maintaining orderly conduct in public spaces.
Victoria Street
- Illegal Immigrant Arrests: 14 illegal immigrants were arrested at 152 Victoria Street. Among them was a Bangladeshi national operating a cellphone business on a relative’s visa, violating his visa conditions.
